The Labour Party has pledged to build a new hospital for Reading if they gain power in the forthcoming general election.

The Conservatives have failed on their promise to the Royal Berkshire Hospital. The Royal Berkshire was put on the government’s New Hospitals Programme in 2019, which promised to deliver 40 new hospitals across the country by 2030. But multiple delays and Tory mismanagement now mean any improvements are unlikely to even be started before 2031!

Staff are forced to make to do with an NHS in disrepair, working around leaks, heating problems, and the risk of power cuts. Patients are experiencing overcrowding, having to routinely wait outside the A&E for treatment.

The Tories have dithered and delayed over the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

This is unacceptable. We cannot wait any longer for an NHS that’s fit for purpose.

Labour’s Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves knows this – she has already pledged to fund a new RBH.
